The one thing I really hate doing is introducing myself. When I'm giving presentations, I try to stick to a rule I read about: Don't talk about yourself; people are here because they know you have something to say, and they are interested in that, not in you. So, my usual way of doing it is just showing a single slide with my probably well-known portrait picture and some logos of Java- and Oracle User Groups I work with. Over the years some other community recognitions, like the ACE Director title and not least the Java Champion title, have been added. But, beside that it is a mostly black slide pointing to my blog.eisele.net and the @myfear twitter handle.

So, what am I doing here? I mean, why am I publishing a post on the Editor's Blog of the number one Java website? You might already guess that there is some story behind: As a regular reader, you know Kevin Farnham, who has done a tremendous job over the past 5 years as Java.net Editor. He is handing over the baton in the coming months to someone new. And he will be pleased to read that finding a replacement isn't done in a couple of weeks. You're leaving quite some footprints here that have to be filled, Kevin! While Kevin wanted to focus on other parts in his life as early as possible, the hunt for a decent interim solution began. It ended with an email I decided to answer. It contained the exciting opportunity to be a guest editor on Java.net, and I am still very happy that I pulled it out of my notoriously overloaded mailbox in time.

Let's see if I manage to come up with exciting content all around Java, the platforms, the specifications, the users and the User Groups who make Java a real success out there. If you like something on Java.net in the next couple of months, let everybody know. If you find things you dislike, blame it on me. It's probably a mistake I made ;)

And don't hesitate to drop me a line about interesting stuff you're working on or come across. I'm excited and proud to be your interim editor of Java.net.
